Congestion should not be used as a tool to manipulate our citizens. The time east county residents sit in their cars, or on the max trains (for an hour or more one-way) is lost family time. It is time when our citizens in east county are not able to coach little league, volunteer leading scout troops (boy scouts or girl scouts), or simply be home in time to eat dinner as a family. Losing that family time to the cause of “getting people out of their cars” is very poor policy, and shows a lack of respect for ordinary east county families. The best means of solving these problems surrounding congestion, with the resulting wasted time, is to make certain that all of our east county residents can work within five miles of their homes. This will require our industrial land to develop, the Rockwood area to develop around the newly built courthouse, and for additional offices to locate in and near our district. I believe this is possible, and should be a primary goal of our next representative.
